Job Summary

Looking for a caregiver in or around the Calera area to work in the home and help clients with daily activities, such as bathing and bathroom functions, feeding, grooming, taking medication, and some housework.
 
Essential Functions

·       Adheres to Right at Home policies and procedures. 
·       Performs work under the supervision of the Client Care Coordinators, and/or Administrator. 
·       Performs homemaking activities written in the Care Plan that is in Client Home Record which includes, but is not limited to: vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, laundry, and cleaning bathrooms, including toilets.. 
·       Prepares meals and snacks for client according to client/family and Administrator’s instructions.  May perform grocery shopping, taking to Physician appointments, misc. errands, if authorized with the office.
·       Provides companionship for the client including accompanying client on walks, trips to social/recreational activities, assistance with hobbies, etc.  
·       The homemaker is responsible for written documentation of activities provided during shift.  
·       The homemaker should not contact the physician directly, but rather refer all questions or reports to the Office/ Client Care Coordinators, and/or Administrator.  For all Hospice Clients, call the Office immediately to report client’s condition. The Office will contact the appropriate personnel.
 
The Homemaker may NOT perform of the following:
 
 
a.     Any heavy lifting or transferring of clients. 
b.     Administering of any medications.  
c.     Heavy duty household chores such as washing walls, waxing floors, washing windows, etc. 
d.     Household repairs or maintenance 
e.     Cut the fingernails or toenails of any client 
 
Additional (non-essential) Functions
 
·       Performs other duties as directed by Office/Client Care Coordinator and/or Administrator.
 
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Availability
 
·       High school graduate or G.E.D. certificate is required. 
 
·       Passing score of 80% on the RAH Homemaker Companion Competency Evaluation.
·       Must have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick, and the ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job. 
 
·       Read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job. 
·       Have valid driver’s license and use of an insured automobile for work or access to adequate transportation. 
 
Working Conditions/Environment
·       Primarily works in homes, however may also work in facilities, and requiring travel. Shift times and days vary with home and facility needs. This requires CNA/Patient Care Assistant to work independently, autonomously and collaboratively with other care staff, client and client’s families. 

 
Note/Special Instructions
 
Performs other duties as directed by Office/Client Care Coordinator and/or Administrator.
Compensation: $10
